Biba (Areeba) was a beloved daughter, sister, wife and mother of three. She was an avid reader, an aspiring writer whom we lost at the tender age of 30 to brain cancer.
Like the scent of a blossom that freshens the gentle breeze Your kind energy spread warmth wherever you’d go The budding fruit of your creative pursuits An emblem of joyful life, your sparkling glow
You stayed grounded in tradition, but remained unhindered You were true to your roots, yet branched out and gave shade You sought comfort in the simple pleasures of life Yet also gloriously thrived like an evergreen glade
As fall set in, and the sickness took hold With changing colours, a brave spirit stood firm Your fiery will, and sunny resilience shone Didn’t know once these colours shed, they shall not return
Since you faded away, an eternal winter surrounds us Bereft of your vibrant colours, we long for your warmth and glow But the world moves on as other trees spring to life While we stumble in the desolate dark, awaiting a light to show
This is what Biba meant to us: the light in our lives.
But, the last few years of her life were marked by her struggle with several occurrences of cancer, the last one of which she succumbed to, when it metastasized to her brain.
This research foundation is in her cherished memory .
